LSF-UK is managed by five trustees, all of whom are professional Luthiers with many years of experience.

Additional volunteers are recruited for our teaching missions.

Keith Graves (Secretary)

Keith has been teaching Violin Making and Restoration for many years and is currently also course leader for all musical instrument making courses at South Thames College in Morden. He combines this with running his own business from home in Sussex. Keith has volunteered for LSF in Uganda and Antigua.


Rita Walker

Rita is a maker and repairer of historical and modern stringed musical instruments based in Surrey. She teaches instrument making and repair at Merton College. Rita has volunteered for LSF in Antigua.

Colin Garrett (Treasurer)

Colin lives in Hertfordshire where he runs his lutherie business. As well as being treasurer of LSF-UK, Colin is a very successful fundraiser and is also a trustee of the Rowan Armour-Brown Trust.

Rob Cain (Project Development)

Rob has taught for many years at the Newark School of Violinmaking and some LSF missions have included current or graduating students. Rob’s role is in developing missions as well as volunteering in Haiti, Afghanistan, the Philippines and Malawi.

John Milnes (Chair)

John has a restoration business in his home town of Oxford. He is also a musician and a researcher and publisher of many books on violinmaking. John was the main force behind the formation of LSF-UK in 2008 and has worked on missions in Uganda and Cuba.
